This page describes what the site learns about its visitors and what happens to that information. We have tried to make it describe reality rather than serve as a formality.

What we do not collect

There is no registration, there are no accounts, and we do not collect names, email addresses or phone numbers — except when you write to us yourself.

The site carries no analytics, no traffic counters and no advertising pixels, unless stated otherwise in the Advertising section below.

What is stored in your browser

One item: your chosen colour theme, light or dark. It lives in your browser's local storage, is never sent to our server and never leaves your device. Clearing site data in your browser settings removes it.

This is an interface preference, not a tracking mechanism.

Server logs

Like any web server, ours records routine request data: IP address, time, the page requested and the browser string. These are used for diagnosing faults and preventing abuse, are kept for FILL IN — retention period, e.g. 30 days, and are not used to build profiles of visitors.

Images from third-party sites

The news feed displays pictures loaded directly from the publications that produced them. That means their servers see your IP address — this is how loading any image on the web works.

We send those requests with no-referrer, so publications learn nothing about which page a reader came from.

Advertising

FILL IN BEFORE ENABLING ADS. If Google AdSense is switched on, this section must describe Google's use of cookies, the sharing of data with advertising partners, and link to Google's advertising settings. Until then, leave the sentence below.

There is currently no advertising and there are no advertising cookies on this site.

Your rights

You may ask what data we hold about you and request its deletion. Write to the address on the Contact page.

If you are in the European Union, you have the rights granted by the GDPR, including access, rectification, erasure and objection to processing.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of the page.
